History of Sophia University Faculty of Science and Engineering/Graduate School of Science and Engineering

1913
Sophia University was founded
1962
Faculty of Science and Technology was established (Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Physics, and Chemistry)
1965
Department of Mathematics was established
1966
Graduate School of Science and Technology and Doctoral Programs were established (for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Chemistry, and Physics)
1968
Science and Technology Research Doctoral program was established
1969
Master’s Program in Mathematics was established for the Graduate School of Science and Technology
1970
General Research Laboratory was established for the Faculty of Science and Technology
1972
Doctoral Program in Mathematics was established at the Graduate School of Science and Technology
1976
Graduate School rules were amended and changed to distinguish first stage and second stage in the Doctoral Program
1978
First stage of the Doctoral Program in Biological Science was established at the Graduate School of Science and Technology
1981
Second stage of the Doctoral Program in Biological Science was established at the Graduate School of Science and Technology
2008
Reorganization of the Faculty of Science and Technology (Department of Materials and Life Sciences, Department of Applied Sciences, and Department of Information and Communication Sciences were established).
Reorganization of the Graduate School of Science and Technology (Master’s Program in Science and Technology was established with Mechanical Engineering, Electric and Electronic Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Life-Sciences, Information-Sciences Divisions).
2012
Green Science and Green Engineering Courses were established at the Faculty of Science and Technology.
2013
Green Science and Engineering Division was established at the Graduate School of Science and Technology.
