1234■ ゴンサルベス研究室(情報理工学科)PUSHING THE FRONTIERS OF AIThe Gonsalves AI Lab aims to train students in the development of advanced applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) programs. The field of AI is growing by the day. Our students are constantly learning new data analysis and programming skills to cope with the growing challenges of AI. Undergraduate students, master's students, and doctoral students from the Japanese and Green Science and Engineering programs work in the lab. Each student works on a high-spec desktop or workstation. Research is conducted primarily in the areas of creative arts and design, natural language processing, and future technologies such as autonomous driving and drones. For example, our AI 研究例ゴンサルベス 教授30 AI Creative Art and DesignAI Future Technology1AI music composition 2Assembling robot 3Hi-spec computing 4AI for pollution controlWith the help of AI, we can create websites, interior design, 3D shapes, portraits, anime, landscapes and so on. Recently, we have also used AI programs to compose music. One of the most exciting projects this year was creating Beatles music.programs for image processing, when trained with large datasets of digital photos, can easily generate realistic photos of any type the user desires. We can also input text descriptions of photos, and the AI programs will draw them instantly. Sophia is well-known in Japan for teaching foreign languages and cultures. Our lab provides technical support for creating teaching materials. For example, AI programs can easily create vocabulary lists of the most frequently used words in a language and generate a variety of grammar exercises that students can interact with and improve their language skills. We have also developed an automated system for correcting class assignments for Spanish. We are training programs that can use cameras to scan the environment and learn to recognize traffic signals, road signs, pedestrians, and hazards, and use this information to drive safely on their own without human intervention.
